Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Band to be unveiled at MWC 2014
Samsung is preparing a successor to the Galaxy Gear and the fitness oriented Galaxy Band
Samsung Galaxy Gear will have a follow up in early 2014, according to the latest rumors. It seems that the Korean manufacturer is working on a successor to the first smartwatch model. That means the company has embraced a strategy which is opposite Pebble – instead of delivering new updates to the first model, Samsung will deliver a brand new product on the market. Alongside the Gear 2, Samsung will introduce a brand new fitness oriented wearable – Galaxy Band. Both new products are likely to make an appearance at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February 2014.
The information about the new gadgets comes from The Korea Herald, based on an analyst working at IBK Securities. According to the source, the chances for the next Galaxy Gear 2 to be introduced during MWC in Barcelona early in 2014 are very high. At present, no details about the device design are available. However, there are rumors saying the next smartwatch is likely to have a flexible organic light emitting screen.
The second gadget, dubbed Samsung Galaxy Band, will be a typical fitness oriented band. We have already seen similar products on the market – Fitbit and Jawbone. The Galaxy Band is likely to be integrated closely with the current Galaxy line-up. The gadget will let you monitor your pulse, blood pressure and overall physical condition.
Samsung has published a video showing what should be expected from the company in the near future. The future of the display technology and the new products have been presented in the video below:
