Nokia works on a tablet with a keyboard cover
Nokia is working on a new tablet. What’s more, it has applied for a patent. And what’s even more, the patent suggests that the new tablet of the Finnish company will integrate a physical keyboard into the cover. In fact, the application has the title ‘Apparatus Cover with Keyboard’ and Nokia has submitted it to the Patent and Trademark Office of the USA in October 2011. If you give it a little consideration, it is long before the announcement of the Surface tablets of Microsoft that feature the Touch Cover.
In the application you can read the ideas of Nokia about the possible connections of the tablet to the keyboard with the help of a flexible mount. There will be a special mechanism that will allow lifting of the cover up to a suitable angle while the keyboard is lied out in front of the screen, or, in the other case, to lay flat the entire device or to fold out the keyboard and position it behind the screen.
This is not the first time Nokia applies for patents related to the design of tablets. There is a that everlasting rumour about the company releasing a tablet, and its latest suggestions want to make us believe that Nokia will release a 10-inch tablet with Windows RT soon, soon meaning early 2013. There was even a statement by Stephen Elop, the CEO of Nokia – with it he informed us that Nokia hasn’t yet let go of the idea to create a tablet, nor has it ruled out Android as a possible operating system for the future device.
So, we’d better expect to see the rumours come true and let’s hope that Nokia will really create its long-anticipated tablet soon. Stay tuned for more news, information and reviews with us here or on our Facebook page and Twitter profile.
