New rumors suggest Galaxy Note 3 phablet to sport a flexible display
One of the biggest challenges in front of the big manufacturers is to develop a high-end device with a flexible and unbreakable screen. We have seen already a few examples of the latest achievements in this sphere by the big companies like Samsung and LG. The results are beyond impressive and show that the idea for flexible and unbreakable displays for the devices is not only possible but will happen soon. In fact, the topic for the foldable screens is rumored for almost any modern device that joins the mobile world. This is the case with the upcoming flagship Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet.
So far we have seen several leaks with different prototypes of the device. One of the most interesting of them is the Galaxy Note 3 with a flexible OLED display. The foldable screen is a product by YOUM, a brand of Samsung. What is the main purpose of the flexible screens except …. stopping our breath? It is to improve significantly the durability of the device. The OLED display is practically unbreakable in common situations and accidents, like dropping the handset on the floor.
This new breakthrough technology looks and works great on the prototypes, however producing devices in big quantities with OLED displays is certainly a challenge. Of course, this will not stop the manufacturers to continue working on the new devices that will sport flexible screens. The expectations for Samsung are that the company will produce certain quantity of units with OLED screens, depending on how the production advancements will progress.
Samsung is working hard on developing a decent version of foldable screens, called for now Samsung Display. There are many things that we are curious to know about the new type of screens. For example, will the Samsung Display be able to support Full HD? Will Samsung introduce a completely new model high-end phone, or we will see Galaxy Note 3 with the new screen?
