New rumors for Nokia Normandy suggest that its name is Nokia X
The latest leak for Nokia Normandy reveals the name Nokia X
Nokia Normandy is among the most interesting devices that we are eager to see on the mobile arena. Even though Nokia has not confirmed the existence of the model the growing number of leaks and rumors about the smartphone make the hint that it will make its official debut sooner than later. The most special about the entry-level device is its platform.
According to the leaks we have seen of Nokia Normandy the smartphone runs on an operating system that reminds a lot to Android and Windows Phone at the same time. Many named the platform “forked Android” and it really looks like the Google’s operating system with tiles. The new leak about the Nokia Normandy comes from the tipster @evleaks. The tweet posted on its account reads “Project Normandy = Nokia X.” The speculations suggest that the tipster reveals the real name of the upcoming device and it will be named Nokia X. Apart from the new name no new information is included in the leak. The previous rumors suggested that the Nokia Normandy aka Nokia X will be released as part of the Asha line entry-level smartphones.
It is still unknown how the project for the release of the phone will continue after the finalizing of the partial acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft. The deal should be closed in the Q1, so hopefully we will soon have more clarity on this topic. If rumors turn out to be true we will see Nokia Normandy go official at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in the end of February in Barcelona, Spain. The company is already sending out invitations about the press-event when we hope to see the announcement of the new model. The leaked photos of the device in the past few weeks revealed that the phone will be available in different color options. Few more weeks and we might see the Android-powered smartphone by Nokia debuting on the mobile arena.
