Foxconn and Mozilla will introduce device that run on Firefox OS
Firefox OS is one of the newest platforms in the mobile world that aims to meet users’ expectations and preferences. It is a project of Mozilla. The company attracts over 15 partners in the project for a device that runs on Firefox OS. Rumors say that even one of the partners of Apple for developing of devices, Hon Hai Precision Industry will become part of the project. If this name is new to you, it is probably because we know the Taiwanese company better under the name Foxconn.
After the beginning of next week, the partnership between Foxconn and Mozilla will become official. There are intense speculations that a new device that runs on the new Firefox OS will be introduced on the same date, 3rd of June.
Earlier in the year two devices that run on Firefox OS were launched on the market. They were the Alcatel One Touch Fire and the ZTE Open. For now, Mozilla seems to be oriented toward the low-end mobile devices, because the competition in this category is less compared to the high-end spectrum of smartphones. The company is trying its best to take the leading positions in this niche. This strategy has its advantages, although it will be difficult to work for a long time, because the intensive competition in the high-end category smartphones, especially in the improvements of the hardware. The innovations and the new technologies evoke dynamic changes in the mobile world and quickly push away the new devices, which get replaced by even more innovative and fascinating smartphones. The high-end devices become affordable just as the low-end phones.
The Firefox OS definitely seems promising and we are pretty sure that the platform will be embraced by a lot of the big manufacturers. There are rumors that Huawei and LG already work on devices that will run on Firefox OS.
We are eager to see the brand of the new device that will run on Firefox OS, made by Foxoconn. It is not clear yet whether it will be a smrtphone or a tablet. The name of the device is still not revealed. What are your expectations?
