Asus ME173 tablet arrives with an improved screen resolution and a wider viewing angle
Not long time after we saw the Asus Memo ME172V announcement at CES, we will see a brand new, more powerful version of the tablet. The upcoming Asus ME173 was recently introduced and it is going to hit the market later this year, the company has just published. The basic concept will be similar to the previous version, but the tablet will feature an upgraded 7-inch capacitive screen with 1,280 x 800 resolution and wider viewing angle. Let’s remind you that the previous version had a resolution of 1280 x 600p, which was really low compared even with the cheapest models on the market. Besides that, the viewing angle was too narrow, and the details were hardly seen. Now, these screen improvements can be considered as a step ahead for the company.
The Asus ME173 will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and will be powered by a dual-core MediaTek MT8125 processor at 1.2 GHz. The tablet is equipped with a PowerVR SGX 544 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. Features 16 of internal storage, Asus ME173 comes with micro HDMI and microUSB slots as well as 3.5 mm headphone jack. Regarding the camera features, the new device will pack two cameras – the main 5-megapixel one on the back featuring LED flash and a 1.2- megapixel front camera. If you need more storage, you can expand the internal 16 using a microSD slot supporting up to 32 GB.
Having e-compass and gyroscope, the device comes in different back case colors – dark grey, white, pink and green. The ASUS ME173 3D will be on the market in the last quarter of the year while the price level is yet to be announced. The previous version had a price around $150, so we expect price level for the new model up to $200. Stay tuned to find out more information about the upcoming tablets and phones released by Asus.
