A leaked image of Sony Xperia Z from T-Mobile
Sony Xperia S and its mid-range version Sony Xperia ZL were announced at CES in Las Vegas in January. Since then we have been waiting to hear which carrier or carriers will ship the device in the USA, but there was no available information. In fact, the Japanese flagship was officially released worldwide on February 28 and more than 5 weeks later there was no word about availability in the USA. This was a bit ironic as Sony Xperia Z was officially announced in USA, not at MWC in Barcelona.
It is not typical for the marketing strategy of Sony to see its phones offered in the USA by a carrier, different from AT&T. However, it now seems that the Japanese company is planning to change this. A leaked photo may be the proof that Sony will work with T-Mobile when it comes to their new flagship – Sony Xperia Z. The photo shows the handset with the branding T-Mobile at the bottom. So, if you are planning to get the device, better start considering some of the new plans of T-Mobile with no commitment.
Now comes the sad part. The way Sony Xperia Z is distributed does not allow you to get it from one carrier and use it with another. There are two different Sony Xperia Z models and three different Sony Xperia Z models, so this model on the photo will either be a third one or one of the two we already know about. Sony Xperia Z is not like Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or iPhone 5, which tend to work almost anywhere – it is rather specific. And, what’s more, there have been no news on the availability of Sony Xperia ZL, which is a bit strange. We suggest you take this news with a grain of salt, as it is based only on a single picture. Stay tuned for more information!
