YouTube launches new iPhone app
Among the storm of news on the Apple’s coming event tomorrow, where the iPhone 5 is to be officially presented, we have been also keeping up dated on the new mobile operating system iOS 6 .
Multiple changes and improvements are expected in iOS 6, and we hope to hear more about them at the event tomorrow. About one such change however, many may be surprised – YouTube will no longer be pre-installed, even though it has been present on every iOS since the first smartphone ever appeared. The reason is that Apple’s license with YouTube had ended, but users of iOS 6 will still be able to access YouTube, either through the mobile web or, as many will be happy to learn about, via the new YouTube app for iOS 6.
The new app is offered in the App Store now, and has been entirely developed by YouTube. The new iOS users will have wider access to content such as major-label music videos, browse channels more easily, plus have new video share options.
You can download the new YouTube iOS app at this iTunes link. It’s a free app and is compatible for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (third and fourth generation) and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later. Features include access to the massive YouTube video catalog and official music videos, voice search and query autocomplete and channel subscriptions with channel guide UI. Users will also be able to watch videos, see comments, look through related videos, and access subtitles and video sharing options include Google+, Facebook, Twitter and email.
We shall be hearing much more about iOS 6 tomorrow, and we’ll be bringing more news from the Apple event. So, stay tuned.
