Galaxy A7 will be the Samsung’s slimmest phone yet

After showing the new Galaxy A3 and A5 models at CES, the Korean giant is preparing the launch of a super slim smartphone – Galaxy A7. The press event is set for January 15, but apparently the phone got an unofficial premiere in Asia. The new model will follow the design of the A5-A3 but will have a larger screen and a very slim profile – just 6.3mm.
According to the information, Samsung Galaxy A7 is fronted by a super AMOLED display measuring at 5.5 inches across the diagonals and offering a full HD resolution. Snapdragon 615 chipset will be powering the phone running at 1.5 GHz. Other specs include 16 Gigs of storage, 2600 mAh battery, 4G LTE connectivity.
Whilst the new Galaxy A7 smartphone definitely offers some improvements over the old Galaxy series, Samsung needs to re-think its strategy to offer more and more new models with very few visual differences (if any) except slimmer profiles.
According to latest financial reports, Samsung’s revenue is falling rapidly. The graphs show that the decreasing phone sales have resulted in an overall drop of 32% of the operating profit in 2014. So, the first drop since 2011 could be the beginning of the end for the company. Facing ever increasing pressure of many local Chinese and Indian brands, the decrease of the average price of a phone, and highly segmented Android market, may force Samsung into new waters exploring and developing its own Tizen platform to combat rivals. Samsung’s downfall has also resulted in a decrease of the Android’s share in all markets, at the expense of iOS.
