HTC Eye coming soon, it’s an HTC One M8 with improved camera
HTC One M8 (Eye) is coming in October
Stories about unannounced device codenamed HTC Eye got viral on the Internet after popular leaker suggested the phone would be an improved version of the HTC flagship with a better camera module. This unannounced phone is expected to snap better photos, but we are not sure if this applies to the front or its real camera.
HTC’s current flagship device is available in two versions, One M8 for Android and One M8 for Windows, sharing the same specs and hardware. HTC One M8 has a camera module that combines two cameras, something unique for the mobile world. HTC’s technology is based on larger than normal pixels, and DuoCamera module capturing more details and producing nice bokeh and 3D effects, and great low-light photographs.
These 4 megapixels, however, have many disadvantages, and users have been complaining about the quality and the low resolution of the final images, which are obviously not close in terms of quality to real high-end cameras (Lumia 1020, 930, and others).
What we know about HTC Eye so far is that the phone will join the One M8 family so we will have the same design and features…except the camera. HTC is likely to keep its DuoCamera module, but increase the main sensor from 4MP to 13MP, and replace UltraPixel technology with regular pixels. What can we expect from this change? Well, improvements in most lighting conditions, and images with more details. HTC already uses such a module for HTC Butterfly 2.
HTC One M8 (Eye) with a 13MP camera will reportedly launch next month, running Sense 6 on top of Android KitKat 4.4.4.
