Developers now give their preferences iOS leading Android desired by more
The research firm Forrester conducted a research amongst developers and found out that Apple’s OS is still the leading platform which they prefer to have their mobile apps on as a main choice. The company surveyed 765 app developers. However, a peculiar tendency starts to show after the first few answer the questions. Developers have iPhone in mind for their first choice, however, 84% of developers plan on making Android phone version of their app. As opposed to 77% who have the iPhone in mind for their app.
The same goes for tablets. More developers set the iPad as their first preference but even more want their app also on Android powered tablets. nterestingly, roughly the same percentage of developers that have an Android smartphone version of their app as their first preference also list Windows Phone as being their top choice.
Horrible news for BlackBerry coems from this research as more developers choose Windows RT. Overall, there are more developers that would write for Bada than for BlackBerry 10.
And as you can imagine the stats are declining for all other operating systems listed in others. From here the conclusion is clear. The more developers list the operating system in their primary preferences and not in the fourth and fifth place the more apps there will be for these operating systems. The more apps the more variety and from then on follow the clients who want the widest variety of apps possible for their device.
We will be expecting more information on what the state of each OS is in the eyes of the developers and how will this graph change over time. Will there be more developers willing to make their apps available for more OS or the two dominant will take over the market. What do you think?
