ZTE will launch its own smartwatch in China next year, but it will work only with ZTE smatphones
ZTE is also developing another smartwatch that will work with every single Android device
ZTE revealed its plans to launch its own smartwatch device that will arrive sometime during next year, most probably in the second quarter of 2014. Similar to Samsung Galaxy Gear it will require to work with the same brand of handsets, however it’s a fact that the Chinese manufacturer doesn’t have many smartphones up its sleeves.
Logically, the ZTE smartwatch won’t become a best-seller at first, but the company continues to launch budget-friendly high-spec handsets and once the market starts offering more models, so in near future many users would gladly buy the ZTE smartwatch as well. As expected from ZTE, LU Qianhao promised that the device will be more affordable than Galaxy Gear. With that order of thoughts, the company will release the first sets only in China, which is the most rational plan considering the facts. At first, the smartwatch will be selling in China where ZTE smartphones respectively have the biggest market. When the market expands worldwide with enough interest for the ZTE handsets, the suitable branded smartwatch will inevitably launch in the US and Europe as well. This might take some time, but you know how the market works.
Speaking of market and strategies, apparently ZTE goes even further with another bright idea. We’re talking about ZTE to develop another smartwatch that will work with every single Android device, which will give some serious boost to the smartwatch segment.
Other upcoming projects of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer go further with developing ZTE branded smart glasses and, wait for it, smartphone connected shoes. For those who skipped that part from the endless smart-devices-saga, the smart shoes basically work on the following old principle: there’s an embedded computer that is auto-adjusted to the shoes and is fully synchronized with your PC in order to allow you to communicate with the shoes of others. Of course, the upcoming by ZTE wireless capable fashion disaster will be synced with your smartphone instead of your PC. But let’s focus on the upcoming ZTE smartwatches for now.
