Samsung introduced the next generation smartwatches – Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo

Yesterday we shared the news for two new upcoming models smartwatches by Samsung that are supposed to succeed the Samsung Galaxy Gear. The information that surfaced on the web was very limited. The most important thing about the new models is that they will be powered by the new operating system by Samsung, Tizen apart from their predecessor that runs on custom Android. Just a day after the leak with the pictures of the smartwatches and hours before the beginning of one of the biggest events in Q1 in the digit world, the MWC in Barceliona Samsung officially introduced the timepieces. Meet the Samsung Gear 2 and Samsung Gear 2. Perhaps you have also noticed that the “Galaxy” is missing in the names of the models. They are the first smartwatches that are powered by Tizen OS. What is the new in the successors of Galaxy Gear?

The Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo sport similar designs to its predecessor. They arrive with 1.63-inch Super AMOLED displays with resolution of 320x320p similar to what we see in Galaxy Gear. The processors in Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are slightly improved than the CPU ticking in the older smartwatch. They are powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM on board. The internal memory in the models is 4GB. Each of the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo works with 300mAh battery. The Korean manufacturer promises that it will keep the gadgets fully functional for 2-3 days. Both devices support Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The Gear 2 arrives with a 2MP camera while the Gear 2 Neo doesn’t feature a camera. The apps provided in the smartwatches include S Voice, weather app, stopwatch, media controls and some health-related features.

Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo will land on the markets in April. The company has not revealed the price of the smartwactehs yet. The Gear 2 comes in several color options – Wild Orange, Gold Brown and Charcoal Black. The Gear 2 Neo arrives in Mocha Grey, Wild Orange and Charcoal Black. The models boast swappable stripes.
