Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch – it is time to Gear yourself up
Well, you wanted it and now you have it. The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch is now released officially from Samsung and we should say that the design is much better than we expected.
But let’s get to the serious stuff 1.63-inch square Super AMOLED display at 320×320 pixels which is not as near as the rumors pointed the size of the display will be but we do not seem to have a lot of choices at this point and we are happy that the device is not too big for our wrists and can be handled easily.
Of course, Samsung has made the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch closely connected with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Incoming messages, such as calls, texts, emails and alerts will be shown on both devices but this was pretty much clear from the beginning. The true power of the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch lies in a service called Smart Relay feature.
The service basically grabs whatever is on your Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch and takes it to the Galaxy device that you are using in the moment you unlock it and you can operate it from the phone or if you are looking at a contact it will appear automatically on the phone so you can call or message the contact.
The speakers and microphone are on the bottom of the strap, rather than near the watch itself. You can also create a Voice Memo, draft messages, create new calendar entries, set alarms, and check the weather using voice commands. Now you can feel like a James Bond when you start talking to your wrist.
Another feature not mentioned until now is that every time you walk on more than 1.5 meters from your device the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch automatically locks it – genius. The device supports a few apps and will have its own app store with 70 apps available at launch.
