The saga continues: Apple asks for sales ban on 20 Samsung devices
Apple needs to combat any future infringement by Samsung
There are few universal truths that are constant and as well as the earth is round, and goes around the sun, Apple will always strike Samsung over patent infringements. We’ve seen lots of bloodbaths in the courtroom arena and recently the jury awarded Apple will another $290 million from Samsung in addition to the $600 million the Korean company had already had to pay in damages. Today we have a real death match with more than money at stake- Apple is out to guarantee about 20 Samsung devices completely banned from sales.
This is not the first time for Apple taking such actions, as last year the company demanded a sales ban on infringing Samsung products, however Judge Koh didn’t rule in Apple’s favour. Since then, a lot has happened in courtrooms all around the globe and the endless war between the two companies wants for more victims, so today another door has been opened for Apple to demand those bans once again.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a complete list of the actual devices that Apple wants to be banned, however some of those have been tipped to be the old Samsung Galaxy S 4G and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Apparently, these are ghosts from the past that one can hardly even find on the shelves, but as Apple claims- everything is about principles.
“Samsung’s claim that it has discontinued selling the particular models found to infringe or design around Apple’s patents in no way diminishes Apple’s need for injunctive relief,” Apple argued in a court filing. “Because Samsung frequently brings new products to market, an injunction is important to providing Apple the relief it needs to combat any future infringement by Samsung through products not more than colorably different from those already found to infringe.”
