Nokia Lumia S to hit the market
After the introduction of Nokia’s two new smartphones Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, which run on the latest Windows 8 OS, it all turned out into quite an unpleasant disappointment, as CNN “Click” reports.
According to the source, Nokia’s stock plunged, the new devices failing to gain applause by the investors, nor their expected high interest. Indeed, what a surprise! Because the Nokia Lumia-s are designed as marvelous pieces of technology, with well-thought-of specs, an extraordinary display, and innovative camera.
As it seems it all started with the fact that the presentation of Nokia’s Lumia 920 and 820 lacked “positive surprises, carrier announcements or specific launch dates,” as commented by Jennifer Fritzsche, senior analyst at Wells Fargo.
It was expected that Nokia (NOK) would announce AT&T (T) as its exclusive launch partner for the Lumia 920 model, and Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile (DT) and AT&T as partners for the 820 model, but except for the announced sellings to start in November, no additional details or announcements have been released by the Finnish company.
Nokia has taken a big step to partnering with Microsoft (MSFT) to run the Windows 8 platform on its smartphones. Devices like these make just 3.5% of the global smartphone market, according to the research firm IDC, compared with Google’s (GOOG) Android, which accounts for a whopping 68% share, and Apple’s 17% share. Yet Nokia is not the only one introducing Windows 8 on its smartphones. Samsung and HTC are also expected to launch new phones with the Microsoft’s latest operating system.
