Next generation tablets of Microsoft – Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2
Just as promised and right on time Microsoft brought to the mobile world the next generation tablets, the Microsoft Surface 2 which will replace the last year’s Surface RT and the Microsoft Surface Pro 2.
Let’s start with the Surface 2. According to Microsoft the new generation tablet is lighter and slimmer than its older sibling. It runs on Windows RT OS and works with slightly better processor than the original slate, quad-core CPU with Tegra 4 chipset, ticking at 1.7GHz and 2GB RAM. The screen of Surface 2 is 10.6-inches display with a resolution of 1920x1080p. This is a very good improvement compared to the last year’s model with 1366x768p. Microsoft reveals that battery is also improved in the new tablet and now has the capabilities to survive up to 10 hours in video playback mode. Surface 2 is equipped with a 5MP shooter on the back and 3.5MP front-facing camera. It is offered in two versions depending on the storage, one with 32GB and another with 64GB. The tablet comes with a microSD slot and full-size USB 3.0 port. Those of you who own the older model tablet and keep the Vapor Mg casing will be happy to know that it will work with the new tablet. The Surface 2 is adorned with stylish back panel in silver. One of the interesting accessories for the tablet is its kickstand that brings more convenience with two different positions for the slate. The official launching of the slate is scheduled for 22nd of October. The price is also announced. The 32GB variant will cost $449 while the 64GB will be offered for $549.
Microsoft Surface Pro 2 comes with Windows 8.1 preinstalled on it. As Microsoft refers to the device, it is a “true laptop replacement.” The size of the display of the slate is also 10.6-inches with a resolution of 1080p. The tablet is equipped with two cameras that have the capability to record 720p video. One of the special features of Surface Pro 2 is its stylus pen with 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity. The tablet boasts full-size USB 3.0 port and Mini DisplayPort. In terms of connectivity it supports 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi. Surface Pro 2 will be up for pre-orders on 24th of Sept and just like its sibling will be offered for sells on 22nd of October. the price for the slate is $899 for the 64GB variant, $999 for the 128GB model and $1299 for the 256GB Surface Pro 2. There is a 512GB variant as well that will cost $1799.

The Touch Cover 2 is a thinner and lighter keyboard cover than the original accessory. it comes with backlit keys and improved sensors that now enable gesture input. The price of the new cover is $119.99.
The Type Cover 2 comes with more tactile keys compares to the original accessory. the keys are quieter and it comes in several color variants – purple, magenta, cyan and the good old black. The price of the cover is set on $129.99.
Docking Station for the Surface Pro tablets – it will be compatible with the original and the new generation of the line. Thanks to the accessory it will be easy for users to attach the device to their PC desktop using it as a monitor. The price of the accessory is announced for $59.99.
