Microsoft redesigns Skype for Android and iOS
Microsoft has recently re-designed its Skype applications for both leading mobile operating systems – Android and iOS. The new Skype app for Android version 4.4 offers a new user interface and the same user experience on smartphone and tablet. Skype for iPhone and iPad has been redesigned for iOS 7.
The new update is significant for all Android tablet users. A new user interface has been revealed, putting the conversations first. The most recent calls and chats are now displayed first. Besides the interface, Microsoft brings all performance and call quality improvements made in the previous update to version 4.0. According to the developers, all phone and tablet users should finally get a similar user experience. The updated Skype for Android brings also improved video quality and increased frame rates. Other changes include accessibility improvements, incoming call improvements, audio routing changes, display and UX enhancements. To conclude, version 4.4 offers you the most significant changes since version 4.0 and you should defiantly update your Skype app as soon as possible.
Microsoft has also released its Skype app for iPhone and iPad redesigned for iOS 7. As you know, Microsoft has released a minor update on the day iOS 7 launched. Unfortunately, it didn’t bring a new interface and that disappointed many users. Now, the new, redesigned interface is here, but that’s not all – the new Skype for iOS also includes some performance improvements and general fixes. So, Skype for iOS has been updated to version 4.1.3. The changelog includes:
- Redesigned refreshed interface, closer to iOS 7
- Improved dialpad accessibility
- Touchtype support

- Voice Over improvements
- General bug fixes
