Live images and a schematic for the Xiaomi 13 Ultra with the Leica logo were leaked
Rumors have been circulating for months that Xiaomi will be focusing on its partnership with Leica at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2023 (MWC 2023). However, the latest reports suggest that the Chinese smartphone brand will also be introducing the new Xiaomi 13 series at the event. This follows the exclusive release of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra in the Chinese smartphone market, which boasted an impressive array of rear-cameras. Now, an unseen Xiaomi 13 device has appeared in the rumor mill, adding fuel to the fire.
Anticipation is high for Xiaomi’s upcoming MWC 2023 announcements, with the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and Xiaomi 13 Lite set to be revealed. But now, images from an allegedly hands-on event have emerged on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, providing a sneak peek at what could be the successor to the Xiaomi 12S Ultra – the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.
A Weibo user named Yulingtang recently posted a clear image of what looks like a Xiaomi 12S Ultra phone. The photo suggests that the back panel has been raised around the camera module, making the camera bump appear to be lower. Additionally, it appears that the large circular camera module is encased in a faux leather finish, and it has four cameras and an LED flash module.
A different Weibo user, known by the username Digital Technology Big BangWW (translated from Chinese), has released two pictures and a schematic of an unrevealed device. Although the blurry images look quite similar to the ones revealed by the first source, the 3D schematic is accurate, thereby increasing the credibility of the leaked photos.
Speculation surrounding the Xiaomi 13 Ultra has been rampant lately, and reports are suggesting the device will be equipped with four rear-facing cameras, two of which will be 1-inch type sensors. The phone is likely to feature Leica branding similar to its predecessor, the Xiaomi 13 Pro, and is expected to support 90W fast-charging. Additionally, it is rumored to have an enhanced periscope camera, 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and either 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage.
Xiaomi has yet to reveal which smartphones will be unveiled at their upcoming MWC 2023 presentation, however, a previous tweet by Xiaomi founder and CEO, Lei Jun, does confirm that when the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is unveiled, it will be available to consumers worldwide, as opposed to its predecessor.
