HBO GO finally adding Chromecast to Android and iOS
Early in October HBO GO got its updates for Android by adding support for Android 4.3, however everyone who hoped for a Chromecast support got disappointed when scrolling through the changelog. The great news is this is no longer an issue! Keep on reading and get your Android or iOS device ready for the latest update.
Google Chrome Blog announced that HBO GO has now added Chromecast support to Android, iOS and their web app. Now users can enjoy their favourite shows and films on their TV just by casting the application.
Actually, the Chromecast support is all that is featured in the changelog, however what else could we hoped for? Instead of adding cosmetic changes and fixes, the app added the only item that could get the job done perfectly. So no more tears, your prayers have been finally answered. The streaming service enables users to watch HBO TV-shows, comedy specials, sports, documentary and all that the channel can offer plus all the behind-the-scenes extras. Now the subscribers of HBO can use the HBO GO on their smart devices with an attached Chromecast. And yes, this includes Game of Thrones, because the Winter is coming and we won’t miss it. Basically, anyone who is paying for the service gets full free access to HBO GO and the Chromecast appears to be way cheaper than Google TV box.
Furthermore, with the HBO GO feature, the Chromecast support is also available for Netfix, YouTube, Hulu Plus and Pandora and probably more services will start offering the support soon. Meanwhile, you can also stream from Google Play Music and Google Play Movies, YouTube or directly from a Chrome tab in case you have got a PC handy.
You can download HBO GO from Google Play HERE if your device runs Android, and from iTunes HERE if you you’re an iOS user.
