Google preparing a new Nexus 7, Android powered notebooks and a Smart Watch
Mingchi Kuo is a well-known Apple analyzer who provides pretty accurate information regarding the new projects under development. This time, he surprises us with interesting information about the Google’s upcoming products. First, he reveals that the new Nexus 7 will come with major spec upgrades. It will be announced at Google I/O, while the possible shipments could begin in June/July. Kuo mentioned that the device will be much thinner and lighter than its predecessor and the price will be just $199, which would incur $5-10 loses for Google for each unit sold, according to the preliminary financial calculations.
The new Google Nexus 7 is rumored to come with a 7-inch narrow bezel 1920 x 1200 p display and a Qualcomm APQ 8064 processor. There will be a 5-megapixel camera and wireless charging. Mingchi Kuo adds that the new Nexus 7 will be between 7.5 and 8.5-inch thick, which would stay close to Apple’s iPad Mini. Nexus 7 will run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The battery will be with a capacity of 4000mAh, according to Kuo.
Speaking about the future so-called “Android-book”, or an Android powered notebook, Mingchi Kuo believes that it will not be announced at Google I/O. The reason is that Android 5.0 which is targeted at notebooks is incomplete. Let’s remember that the current version Jelly Bean was augmented with some multi-user support features, but it is still not completely ready for working with notebooks. Actually, Samsung is aimed at winning the race and bring the first Android powered laptop on the market, even if Android 4.x is not well supported for notebooks. We may see the first notebook in 2-3 months under the Samsung brand.
Finally, Kuo believes that in addition to Google Glass, the company will bring to the market of wearable gadgets its Google Watch, which is yet to be designed. However, this product is not expected before year’s end.
