The first modular phone through Project Ara is coming soon
Motorola will soon launch the first modular phone from the Project Ara
Among the biggest goals of Motorola is to develop tools and technologies that will make it possible for mobile users to create the dream smartphones by themselves. The concept for highly-customizable smartphones is beyond great, but many of us are wondering how realistic it is for the near future. Motorola has set the direction for development and there is no doubt that the road will be rocky with a lot of challenged. The first steps are made with the launching of the flagship Motorola Moto X. The most exciting side of the concept for the phone is the various options for users to choose the color combinations for the device. The customizing is possible thanks to the unique tool Moto Maker that is already supported by several carriers in the States. Among the available options for customizing are different materials, backplates and color combinations.
Not long ago Motorola revealed that it is working on the Project Ara. It is developed following the concept of the company to bring more enriched possibilities for users to design their devices. The prototype for the modular phone will provide different capabilities for changing and replacing of key components of the phones by the users themselves. Thanks to the Project Ara mobile users will be able to create easily their own smartphone that perfectly fits their needs. The Project Ara will boast possibilities for choosing of the key components of the device which is something unique in the mobile world. In a recently published interview the CEO of Motorola Dennis Woodside revels that the prototype of modular phone is coming soon.
“The idea is you have a skeleton that holds together a set of components and the components slide in and out. If we have the interfaces and the protocols that enable the speaker to speak directly to the CPU then this would all be possible.”
The Moto Maker tool will be the instrument that will give life to the Project Ara. Users will customize their devices in similar way as they use today the Moto Maker for choosing the color schemes and the materials for Moto X. The arrival of the most customized handsets is coming soon.
