The source of the information is a confidential document of Google sent to it OEM partners few days ago.The new capabilities of 4.4 KitKat will allow to different models entry-level smartphones with relatively small RAM on board (512MB or under) to get upgraded with the new version of the platform. For example, low-end handsets of ZTE, Samsung or Huawei will be able to get 4.4 Android (it is not confirmed that all the models will be upgraded eventually). Until now the entry-level devices were not eligible for updates in most of the cases.
Among the improvements in the new platform will be the compatibility with high-tech wearable devices, such as the Google Glass and smartwatches. This new feature will be highly beneficial for both sides – users and Google especially after the mobile giant releases its new model smartwatch. 4.4 KitKat will provide support for several hardware sensors, in that number for step detector, step counter and rotation vector. After the update with the platform users will be able to track their steps throughout the day which will help a lot for the indoor mapping.
