Archos releases three new Platinum tablets
Archos has been on the tablet market for quite a while and has already made good impressions with its budget-oriented and specially designed tablets. They have an attractive design, good specs and a low price tag. In order to satisfy even more consumers, Archos has released three new models within the new Platinum line-up. The low-priced model is $200, while the most expensive Platinum tablet is $300, which makes it Archos’ flagship device. All new models run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and have quad-core processors inside, while the other specs differ slightly from model to model.
The cheapest tablet is Archos 80b Platinum. Its design is a very iPad-look, the screen is 8-inches with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. The 80b has two cameras (2MP + 0.3MP) and 1 GB of RAM. Archos 80b Platinum is up for pre-orders for $200.
Archos 101 Platinum has a 10.1-inch screen and the same ports as the 9.7-inch tablet. The display has a better resolution (1280 x 800) than 80b and the internal space is increased to 2 GB ahead of 8 GB internal storage. The device measures 10.3″ x 6.7″ x 0.39″ and weighs 1.4 pounds. It has the same cameras as Archos 80b Platinum – 2 MP on the back and 0.3 MP front facing shooter. The price is $270.
The most attractive new tablet is 97b Platinum HD – Archos’s flagship model. It has a display identical to the 9.7-inch iPad, with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. The quad-core processor is backed by 2 GB of RAM, ahead of 8 GB internal storage. This model has an upgraded front facing camera (2MP) and the same 2MP shooter on the back. Archos 97b Platinum HD weighs 1.4 pounds, up for pre-orders for $300.
