Apple’s Q1 2013 services and numbers
Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, discussed Apple’s services and numbers, as well as Maps, during Q1 2013 earnings call.
Analyses show that the Notification Center has sent more than 4 trillion notifications, and iMessages sent over 450 billion messages; the Game Center has 200 million registered users, while the App Store is at 40 billion downloads. The company even sold 2 million Apple TVs during the quarter.
Other notable numbers for the last quarter show that the company sold 10 iOS devices per second, 500 million iOS devices total; iTunes generated $2.1 billion in revenue; App Store has been made available in 155 countries; $7 billion was paid to app developers; 50 % of all iPods sold were iPod touches; Apple returned $4 billion in cash to shareholders; currently the company has $137.1 billion available in cash.
As for Maps, Cook said that usage in Maps is significantly higher than it was prior to iOS 6. Cook also noted a few of the current improvements to Maps include updates to satellite imagery and local information.
