Apple developers center down again with unclarified reasons
In July the Apple Developers Center was down due to a hacker attack. And only the last weekend we were told that all the activity and the options on the website were back online and fully accessible. Now it seems that the Developer Center will be exposed to offline time again.
From the Apple Developer Program Support have sent out email claiming that the website will be under scheduled downtime and it will start from 6pm PDT today without any clarification to when will it end. The message does not state when the site will be up again and it merely says that it is under a “brief scheduled maintenance.” It also points out that the Apple Developer Program Support services will also be offline during that time.
For now there is no information to whether this is due to the effects of the previous security breach or it is due to a current and unannounced breach or does it have any connection to the security support and what made it necessary to take place just now.
In no way did Apple provide any information for the previous hacker attack other than announcing that an intruder managed to get user account information. The services were fully restored only the last weekend until then some services were partially available and running. The functionality was fully restored and now this maintenance comes like an absolute surprise to what it might be due. However, little time has passed in order to draw quick conclusions and information from something that has not been clarified in the first place. Still, the briefness of the email notification still lifts some doubts about the legitimacy of that “brief maintenance” and it argues that there may be another breach in Apple’s security. Only time will show what rumor is right and what we should believe.
