Nexus can’t get rid of the Wi-Fi bug
As you may know, especially if have a Nexus 4 of Nexus 7 device, some of the devices with Android 4.2.x are experiencing problems with their Wi-Fi connection. Why – it’s a mystery. What are doing from Google to get rid of the problem – it is a mystery. When will they finish doing it – mystery again!
What is for sure – the first complaints came out in November last year in forums all over the Internet. The biggest thread was started at the forum of Google Code, where different solutions were suggested and a few fixes were released, but there was no official statement or action by Google.
However, the thread was closed on 1 February and Google seem to have realised the scale of the problem, because they are ‘investigating’. Some of the issues related to the bug are the following:
– The devices are unable to recognize some routers.
– There are problems with the selection of Channels for regulatory domains outside US.
– ARP filtering.
If you own such a device and the bug is troubling you, you may want to try some of the unofficial fixes that have been suggested by other users or you can wait for Google to come out with a solution. However, nobody knows when this will happen as they give no clue for their work progress.
