BLU Studio 5.5 – a phablet with an insane price of $179 available in the US soon
BLU Products, the US smartphone manufacturer based in Miami Florida, has announced yet another interesting new model. The US company is well-know with its Android based affordable handsets and despite the low price points, these smartphones attracted some attention because of the relatively good specs and nice design decisions.
Now, BLU Products offers a product that fits within the so-called phablet category. Named BLU Studio 5.5, the new model is offered in multiply colors. Unlike some boring phablets from other OEMs, the US designers bet on the more eye-catching look and they offers BLU Studio 5.5 in yellow, pink and cyan, along with the traditional black and white.
The 3G-ready BLU Studio 5.5 has a huge 5.5-inch display; however, it has a very low pixel density (854 x 480 pixels). That means you won’t be able to watch HD videos on this device. On the other hand, the processor is more than a decent for a device fitting within the budget category. The quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.2 GHz will give you enough power to handle the daily tasks. The internal storage of the Studio 5.5 is only 4 GB, however, you can easily expand it by sliding a microSD card into the slot. BLU Studio 5.5 features a 5 MP camera on the back and a VGA front facing shooter. The new smartphone includes a 2250 mAh battery and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
As you can see, the specs are not something special according to the 2013 standards. There are many phablets on the market having more attractive features. But, wait to see the price! The price is definitely a very important factor for many people while making a purchase and the price of the BLU Studio 5.5 is something that cannot be neglected. According to the manufacturer, the Studio 5.5 will be available from Amazon.com off-contract, unlocked, for an insane price of just $179.
