HTC One M8 Eye could be released outside of China, but not in the West
The ‘Eye’ version of the HTC One M8 comes with both 13MP cameras
The HTC One M8 phone with improved EYE’s cameras and photo features popped up surprisingly on a Chinese site a few days ago causing growing excitement among customers. Today, all of them should feel less excited about this handset due to one major reason.
Speaking for Fudzilla, an HTC product manager sheds more light on this smartphone and company’s plans for its market placement. It seems that HTC will bet entirely on the newly announced Desire Eye for most major markets including Europe and US, while the One M8 Eye will be promoted only in China, India and a few other countries.
The phone will launch in China and then expand to India, which should happen within weeks. No pricing and specs details have been revealed yet but there is a strong belief that the One M8 Eye will cost as much as the original One M8. As far as the specs, they will be almost identical, except both camera modules. HTC is ditching the 4MP Ultrapixel camera and the 5MP front-facing shooter in One M8, replacing them with two 13MP modules and keeping the Duo camera placement on the back.
Meanwhile, a new leak hints about a mini version of the Desire 820. The new phone will come with a smaller screen (5 inches) with a mid-range resolution of 720p. The processor will be a quad-core at 1.2 GHz instead of the more powerful 64 bit one found in the big brother. Other rumored features include an 8MP camera, 8MP of storage, and a microSD.
