Gionee Elife S5.5 is the thinnest handset in the digit world
The Chinese manufacturers are known for developing ultra thin smartphones and phablets, equipped with great cameras, especially the front shooters. The current slimmest smartphone on the market is Vivo X3 – only 5.75 mm thick. It seems that a new device will take the title from Vivo X3 and will become the new world’s thinnest handset. The Gionee Elife S5.5 is officially announced and it is already available for pre-orders. The smartphone fascinates with a sleek design and the thinnest panel ever seen in the digit world, just 5.5 mm thick. The screen of Elife S5.5 is 5-inch. The resolution is not officially unveiled yet. It is powered by a quad-core CPU ticking at 1.7GHz. There are 2GB RAM on board. It runs on Android OS customized with the UI of Gionee named “Amigo.” The two camera provided in Elife S5.5 are a 13MP shooter on the back and a 5MP front-facing camera.
The new “skinny” smartphone is equipped with a 2300mAh battery. Even though the cell does not seem to have an impressive capacity, Gionee promises that it assures enough juice to the phone to go through the day.
Elife S5.5 will be released in two variants depending on the connectivity features. The 3G model is already listed for pre-orders in China for the price of $370 SIM-free. The Elife S5.5 with LTE support will be officially launched in the beginning of summer. The price of the 4G variant is not revealed yet. The phone will be shipping soon. Gionee revealed its plans to launch the smartphone worldwide. It will be introduced gradually to 40 countries around the globe. This means that if you are interested in buying the skinniest handset in the digit world, there is a good chance that it will be available for purchase in your country.
