Android-based robot Keecker follows you around to entertain you

Keecker first showed itself at CES 2014, looking like one of those smart vacuum robots that clean your house while you’re away (or Eve exterminator from Wall-e); however this one is an entirely different case. The little ball-like robot runs Android-based software and it plays the function of a projector that simply follows you around in order to entertain you. Its main purpose is to project videos on the walls and as far as it’s running Android, the little robot will connect to Google Play, so it has a big library from Netfix and YouTube to choose from.
Keecker is equipped with 1280×800 pixel of resolution as well as 1000-lumen brightness, which means the little fella prefers to work during the day. The best thing is that Keecker not only projects media on the entire wall, but it can also do it on the ceiling. For that matter, the robot features 360-degree sound via all six speakers, so streaming music won’t be a problem for your small companion.
Furthermore, since Keecker is Android-based, it can be controlled by other Android devices such as smartphones or tablets. Above all, the little fella will be able to map your house and memorize your personal preferences. As expected, Keecker can be also controlled by your voice, so if you say out loud ‘Keeker, come to the bedroom’, it will listen to you (unlike your siblings for example). It will also start projecting a video on your wall as it knows that you’d like to watch the new episode of Doctor Who before going to sleep.
In the meantime, Keecker features even more functions, like for example, it can help you call home via Skype. The robot is intelligent enough to understand when people come over so it would even start taking pictures.
As splendid as it sounds, the catch is that Keecker won’t come for cheap. The robot has a solid price tag from $4000 to $5000. In case money isn’t an issue, Keeker will ship after its exclusive campaign that will happen in Q4 this year.
So far, the prototype that arrived at CES is only 16-inches tall and 25-inches wide, however the developers mentioned that the little robot will lose weight by the time it officially hits the online stores.
