Alcatel bringing two new One Touch POP series tablets
Alcatel will launch its One Touch POP 7 by the end of February 2014
Alcatel goes on fire today with a whole new line of devices. This is quite logical with CES 2014 around the corner, so let’s see what the company has brought to us straight from the kitchen. Along with the newest Alcatel smartphones, the manufacturer has just revealed a series of budget-friendly tablets that run on the Android platform.
Titled Alcatel One Touch POP 7 and Alcatel One Touch POP 8, the fun and colourful POP tablets taste like Jelly Bean and feature pretty decent specs. So let’s start with the more humble one amongst the POPs- the 7-incher One Touch POP 7 that doesn’t offer much ground-breaking specs, however its price tag is quite appealing. The device sports a TFT display with 1024×600 pixels of resolution and operates with a dual-core MediaTek MT8312 set coated at 1.3GHz paired with 1GB of RAM. The camera set features a 2-megapixel rare-facing shooter and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing cam. In terms of integrated space, the tablet offers 4GB internal storage and there’s also a microSD card slot for further storage expansion. The device supports Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G connectivity and an optional IR blaster.
The Alcatel One Touch POP 8 is more capable as the 8-incher sports an IPS display with 1280×800 pixels of resolution and the tablet is powered by a quad-core MT8382 processor running at 1.3GHz with 1GB of RAM. Same as its little sibling, the camera features a 2-megapixel rare-facing cam and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing snapper. The storage is again integrated for 4GB and there’s still the microSD card slot. Same as the POP 7, the 8-incher supports Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G and optionally IR blaster and, the whole pack will also feature protective flip cover cases of several of colours to choose from.
According to the report, Alcatel will launch its OneTouch POP 7 by the end of February 2014 and its OneTouch POP 8 sometime in March this year. There’s still no word on the pricing, however the company promises fair prices.
