Final Fantasy VI for mobile devices shows off its first video
The trailer for the mobile version arrived at the Jump Festa 2014 Expo in Japan
Two months ago we reported that one of the most anticipated games Final Fantasy VI is coming to Android and iOS users. Unlike the mobile versions of Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy IV, this one will be optimized in 2D and will feature enhanced graphics stepped up from the original release. The developers promised that the game will be re-balanced in order to make the battles less tedious and with less grinding. Square Enix’s Takashi Tokita has commented that the developers are aware that there are tons of Final Fantasy VII fans as well, so if the VI works out well, the VII will shortly enter development. Unfortunately, when it comes to Final Fantasy VI, we still don’t have an actual launch date, though we know it will arrive to Japanese users this winter and much later for Europe and North America. For what it’s worth, Square Enix did show the trailer for the mobile version of the classic game at Jump Festa 2014 Expo in Japan, so we have the official look and what to expect from the game when it arrives for mobile users. The stream isn’t exactly the best quality, but it surely hit the YouTube and got everyone hype already.
In a reminder, Final Fantasy VI consists of four basic modes in terms of its gameplay. Those include overworld, town and dungeon field maps, a battle screen and menu. As with the previous instalments, the 3 primary means of travel are by foot, chocobo and airship. The menu screen allows users to make decisions about which characters would be in the travelling party and what equipment they would wield as well as their skills tracked with experience points and levels. The combat system is also menu-based and offers a list of options such as Fight, Magic, and Item. Again, you can use up to 4 characters in a battle, based on the franchise’s Active Time Battle.
