Unexpected update for Motorola Droid X is rolling-out from Verizon
The arrival of more and more new high-end models smartphones is very exciting. We do read and explore about the latest devices, we do have an opinion about what to buy and what to skip, but the truth is that not all of us can afford to update their phones as often as we want. In fact, some of us are still using smartphones that are three years + older. And why not? If the smartphone works flawlessly and we are used to its interface and speed, there is no need to spend hundreds of dollars for a bit faster and improved version of the phone. The good old smartphones work well, especially if they get regular updates. However, the harsh true is that the old phones become the last in the line to get updates which makes them more and more inconvenient for users.
When Motorola launched the Motorola Droid X three years ago, it was a smashing modern device that many of us dreamed to own. The Android running phone arrived with pretty decent set of specs for the time and something very nice for users – regular updates. However the regular updates continued only for a year and half and then the carrier that launched the device Verizon just seemed to forget about it. Almost 18 months since the last software update, we are glad to inform all of you, loyal users of Droid X that it will get an update. The new version of the platform is named with the number 45.621.10.MB810.Verizon.en.US. Those of you who were in a hurry to ask… no, this is not Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. It is a security update that brings some bug fixes and minor improvements. One of the enriched features is the Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) included in the update.
Verzon is already rolling-out the update, so be sure you check your device regularly to get it. Who knows how long you will have to wait until next time? Hopefully Verizon will keep in mind the older devices more often.
