A lot of older Apple devices will not be compatible with iOS 7
The difficult compatibility between generations is not an issue only in the real world; it is definitely a problem in the mobile world as well. The development a lot of new and fascinating devices and platforms is the best strategy that the manufacturers can follow, however if they don’t keep in mind the issue for the compatibility between the new products and the older versions of the devices and OS, they will not have big success.
This has been an issue for all of the biggest rivals in the mobile world. Google have some work to do in that matter to make its new features available for the older versions of the phones and the programs. Android is well known for its problem with the fragmentation between devices, which is the reason why a lot of the new features cannot be used on old devices. It is the same thing about the new updates – they are just not compatible for a broad range of the older smartphones. Apple has the same problem.
The latest version of the iOS – iOS 7 that was recently announced will be available on devices that are no older than iPhone 4 and the tablet iPad 2. Even those models will not receive the full package of features compared to the newest Apple’s products that will get it all. We will present you now with an interesting table for comparison between the features available for some of the older models of Apple and the new devices.
Look at the data for iPad 2 compared to iPad 4, for example. Owners of the older model of the tablet will receive only one of the features that iOS 7 will bring – the iTunes Radio, while the iPhone 4 receives all but one feature of the platform (the only one that is not compatible with the tablet is the Panorama mode of the camera).
