Google Glass for first time on Craigslist against Google Terms of Sale
One of the most fascinating breakthrough products from the last months is the Google Glass. This amazing project of Google is still undergoing improvements; therefore it is not commercially available. It is purposed for the elite Glass Explorers and comes in package with serious restrictions about the possibilities to sale, loan or give away the purchased product.
With this said, a recent ad on Craigslist came as a total surprise for all of us. Apparently a Google Glass owner is attempting to sell his/her product for the impressive price of $6.000, which is four times higher than the price of Google Glass on the market – $1.500.
Is this a real ad or a scam? We do not know for sure. According to the ad the owner of the Google Glass that wants to sell is located in San Francisco’s Easy Bay. The ad includes all the details for the item, just like a normal ad on Craigslist – there is a picture of the box and the Glass, put in a plastic bag, and a full description. The Cgraigslister explains in the ad that the issue with the Glass being connected to a personal Google account is decided through an “empty” account that will be transferred to the buyer. There are still speculations whether the ad is a scam or it is a real offer for an owner of Google Glass that will satisfy impatient users who cannot wait until the Glass is more commercially available for buying legally.
The ad has been active for only one day. Selling Google Glass Explorer is certainly against the current Google Terms of Sale. We expect this to change when the Google Glass becomes more available for the audience. There are indications that Google will continue its policy about the restrictions for the owners to sell the products, however, it will be allowed to give the Glass away.
