ZTE and Sprint released the budget tablet Optik 2
ZTE Optik 2 tablet goes official, available in Sprint for $29.99 on a contract
Almost two years ago ZTE and Sprint released the tablet ZTE Optik with 7-inches display. It was a 3G-enabled device with Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system out of the box. The price of the tablet was $99.99 with signed two-year contract with the carrier. The launching of the slate was so long time ago that we have almost forgotten about the model.
Sprint and ZTE are ready to release the successor of the tablet, the ZTE Optik 2. It boasts a 7-inches screen with a resolution of 500 x 1024p. It is powered by a quad-core CPU with Snapdragon MSM8625Q chipset. The Optik 2 assures an excellent performance with 1GB RAM. The storage in the tablet is relatively modest – 8GB with the possibility for expansion via microSD slot. On the back of the slate is located a 5MP shooter. There is a 2MP front camera. The new model tablet works with 4000mAh battery.
The platform that powers the Optik 2 is Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. This is a rapid improvement compared to its predecessor Optik. The new model is a budget slate that is packed with basic features and capabilities. In terms of connectivity it supports 3G. It is a very affordable Android-powered tablet that costs only $29.99 with a two-year signed contract. Sprint offers the slate off-commitment for $169.99. It is the ideal solution for mobile users that need a tablet for basic tasks on the go. The Optik 2 can be purchased online or from the stores of Sprint. The model will not compete against the high-end tablets on the market today. However it features a decent package of specs and capabilities for its price. It is a much improved version to the original ZTE Optik. Sprint offered different promotions with discounts for the model almost two years ago. We can expect that the ZTE Optik 2 will also get cut in the price in the coming months.
