ZTE Geek is the first high-end phone with Tegra 4 CPU
Today, the first smartophone that works with a quad-core Tegra 4 CPU became officially confirmed. The Chinese manufacturer, ZTE announced that the new model high-end phone ZTE Geek U988S that will be powered by the quad-core Tegra 4 processor. Rumors about the upcoming device by the Chinese company were suggesting other specs for the device; therefore it is a real pleasant surprise that the ZTE Geek U988S will arrive with the new great CPU. What we expected for the device was an Intel processor with a NVIDIA chip. The Tegra 4 CPU will work with 1.8GHz power with the support of 2GB of RAM.
The change of the CPU is only one of the new things that ZTE Geek U988S will bring. The display resolution is improved from the 720x1280p pointed in previous leaks, to the impressive 1080x1920p that were officially confirmed by the manufacturer. Another nice improvement is the front facing camera. The first concept for the device included 1MP front sensor while now it is 2MP. The primary camera that is located on the back panel of ZTE Geek U988S will be 8MP with LED flash, as predicted.
The new handset will be launched and distributed in China. The biggest Chinese carrier, China Mobile will provide the smartphone.
The ZTE Geek U988S was officially announced back in April with supposed launch date sometime in the Q3 this year. It is still not known whether the manufacturer is planning to make any revisions to the handset before it becomes available for sells.
More specs about the ZTE Geek include a 5-inch display. It will run on Android 4.2.2. The battery of the smartphone is 2300mAh. It will boast a variety of features for connectivity like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE, GPS etc. The carrier has not announced the entering price of the device just yet.
