The Windows Phone running Huawei Ascend W2 goes official
Many of us associated the Windows Phone running devices with the Lumia line. However Nokia is not the only company that provides new models smartphones and phablets that are powered by the mobile operating system of Microsoft. Samsung has also introduced a Windows Phone running phone from the series ATIV. The news from today reveals the arrival of another smartphone working on Windows Phone – Huawei Ascend W2. We have seen the smartphone in several leaks already since the first rumors of it from June this summer.
Today the Windows Phone powered Huawei Ascend W2 is officially presented by the Chinese manufacturer in its official website. Finally we get the full list with specs for the device that comes with 4.3-inches display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels and the “super-sensitive” capabilities. According to the company, the touchscreen will be fully functional even if the user is wearing gloves. The handset is working with a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.4GHz with Snapdragon MSM8230 under the hood and 512RAM on board. The built-in storage is 8GB. The Ascend W2 is equipped with a 5MP primary camera. The connectivity features of the handset include support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G. The battery of Ascend W2 is with a capacity of 1700mAh. The new model phone runs on Windows Phone 8 OS.
It will be available in few color variants – red, yellow, blue and black. The smartphone will be launched in several markets. It is already available for sales in China. The next countries that will get the Ascend W2 are the Netherlands and Russia. It will happen within the end of the month. If the new device follows the tradition of its predecessor it will be released in US too, through the Straight Talk company owned by Walmart. The company has not confirmed yet whether the Ascend W2 will arrive in more countries in Europe and the States.
