Wi-Fi calling for HTC 8X (T-Mobile) with a simple hack
Well, bad luck for those users of HTC 8X that got it from T-Mobile. They won’t officially get Wi-Fi calling as T-Mobile is not selling their phone anymore. Wi-Fi calling, however, is enabled on Nokia Lumia 521 and Nokia Lumia 925 and it is a very cool feature. Apparently, something must be done for the users of HTC 8X or they would never get the function.
We have good news for these users – someone has already done something. A tipper named James has managed to hack his T-Mobile HTC 8X and to add it the feature Wi-Fi calling. He shared with us his method and it is very simple and harmless.
Before you try the method, described below, have in mind that there is a great chance for it not to work with your device. Apparently, the hack works only with some firmware versions, so we tell you beforehand in order not be too disappointed. Another think we would like to remind you is to back up all your information as it’s highly likely to be deleted after the end of the process.
Now, after the precautions, James, whose firmware version was 8.0.10211.2014/1532.20.20010.531, went to the T-Mobile website and enabled the service by changing his phone model to BlackBerry Bold and adding the free feature Wi-Fi calling. After that he did a factory reset, which is a crucial step in the process.
When his HTC 8X booted up again, on its home screen there was a blue Wi-Fi calling tile. According to James, the feature works very well and there are no problems with it. We can’t try the hack ourselves, but we are sure that some of our readers will do it when they read the article. Please, share with us whether it has worked or not. And before you start anything, don’t forget the safety measures! We don’t want you to lose all your date in vain!
