The stars of the day – Motorola DROID Ultra, Motorola DROID Maxx and Motorola DROID Mini
We were waiting, we were discussing, we were dreaming and we were exploring leaks and rumors about the new models DROID devices offered by Verizon and now they are finally officially announced. The first Motorola DROID phone was a real star that runs on Android and manages to provide the advantages of the platform to the fullest for the users. Later on, with the evolving of the DROID models they left behind the high-end smartphones of the rivals Samsung and Apple. Now with the new flagships Motorola is planning to return back to the game…Here there are, the stars of the day Motorola DROID Ultra, Motorola DROID Maxx and Motorola DROID Mini.
The DROID Maxx is the first that grabs the attention not only with its impressive design but also with its great long-lasting battery, excellent performance and a wide range of features and capabilities. Another wonderful thing about the new handset is that it sports a thinner body that its predecessor DROID RAZR Maxx HD. In width, DROID Maxx measures just 8.5 millimeters. The large battery is certainly a main advantage of the flagship. According to the official data announced by Motorola and Verizon, the handset will be able to keep running up to the impressive 48 hours with a single charge. The sleek body of the device is protected with Gorilla Glass.
The sibling of DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra arrives in thinner body that fits perfectly in the hand and feels premium. It is one of the slimmest high-end phones on the market today that manages to provide great abundance of features, an awesome camera and fast CPU, all this dressed in its thin panel. Something very interesting about the Motorola DROID Ultra (which is accurate for the other two, DROID Mini and DROID Maxx) is the processor that gives power to the Android OS. A bit as surprise was the choice of octa-core SoC chipset that is a product of Motorola. Its popular name is Motorola X8 mobile computing system. The new technology provides two application processors, a contextual computing core, 4 GPUs and a natural CPU language. The bigger siblings (DROID Ultra and DROID Maxx) sport 5-inch screens, 720x1280p. Even though the resolution is slightly behind the capabilities of the screens of rival models like Samsung Galaxy S4 or the HTC One, the DROIDs will assure a pretty remarkable picture, clean and vivid colors and satisfying viewing experience. Some mobile users still wonder why Google has decided not to provide the devices with 1080p resolution.
The DROID Mini is the baby in the family with the relatively small 4.3-inces display and a resolution of 720x1280p like the rest of the newbies. It is a nice compact device with powerful processor under the hood that comes to the arena of the mobile world to compete against HTC One mini. In short, the DROID Mini will be a small version of DROID Ultra.
The improvements in the hardware are only the cherry of the cake about the exciting things in the new DROIDs. The owners of the handsets will take advantage of the Touchless Control for simple tasks, like calling, directions in the navigation, searching etc. One of the most awesome new features is the Active Display that has the possibilities to light only part of the display, depending on the information you need to read on it. This particular feature performs nicely on DROID Ultra and DROID Maxx, but a bit less satisfying in DROID Mini, because the big devices are equipped with AMOLED displays. This feature is in line with the trend for more power-saving technologies that the manufacturers try to integrate in the high-end devices. The OS of the trio is new Android version that reminds to the stock platform. Of course, Motorola has integrated some custom elements and widgets that will improve the user experience.
After all this information, you are probably eager to know when and where the new devices will be available for sells. Verizon Wireless has announced the 20th of August for official launch date for the phones. They will be offered at $299 for the DROID Maxx, $199 for the DROID Ultra and the $99 for the DROID Mini with a contract. Those of you who device to purchase any of the handsets until 30th of September, will enjoy a free access to Google Play Music All Access for six months.
