The new touch-enabled PC hybrid device Lenovo Miix
Lenovo finally announced sevral new devices – touch-enabled laptops that run on Windows. Among them is the impressive Lenovo Miix, a hybrid device that is designed to meet user’s needs. If you look at the pictures of the Lenovo Miix you will probably notice something that we cannot skip to mention – the new device reminds a lot to the tablet of Microsoft – Surface RT. The Lenovo Miix arrived with an Intel Atom processor under the hood. The device works on operating system Windows 8, just like Surface RT.
Lenovo Miix boasts a detachable “quick-flip” folio case with an AccuType keyboard. It has the possibility to switch instantly between PC and tablet modes to satisfy users’ needs right away. This impressive PC hybrid by Lenovo is equipped with a 10.1-inch display, type HD IPD. It has a resolution of 1366x768p. Microsoft Surface RT tablet has the same screen resolution.
One of the main differences between both devices is in the internet memory. The Surface RT provides 32GB while the Lenovo’s Miix offers 64GB. The Miix supports a microSD card slot. The device is provided with the standard features for connectivity – Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The battery of Miix can work 10 hours before charging. The body of the device is only 0.4-inch wide and 1.2 lbs in weight.
Lenovo did not reveal further information about the price or the launch date of the hybrid. If we use the Surface RT for a comparison – the tablet can be bought for $500USD. However, the Lenovo Miix features a detachable cover while Surface RT doesn’t, which means that there is possibility for the hybrid to be offered at a higher price.
The company gave a hint that the release of Lenovo Miix as well as of the other devices that were presented yesterday will happen sometime in summer.
