The new 7-inch and 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HD tablet specs available
BGR has managed to get the full details about the new Kindle Fire HD tablets. The 7-inch model is set to launch later this year. It will include a full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. The tablet will feature an improved front camera and a cellular connectivity. There will be three different variants – with 16, 32 and 64 GB internal storage. The Kindle Fire HD is expected to run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Amazon’s skin on top.
Amazon is also preparing a refreshment of the budget Kindle Fire tablet and a larger 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD. The 8.9 inch model is expected in fall – it will have features similar to the 7 inch model. The 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HD will boast a 2560 x 1600 p display and the same Snapdragon 800 chipset. The cellular support will be optional, while the other specs remain the same – front facing camera, RAM and storage capacity. The difference is only the 8 megapixel rear camera, missing in the 7-inch model.
Currently, there is no official information, but BGR claims that that the new tablets will have very thin bezels – about a half an inch in the 7-inch and about ¾ of an inch wide for the 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HD tablet. The tablets are not just visually changed – their performance is vastly improved too. And these improvements are significant. According to preliminary benchmark tests, the new tablets perform three times better than the current line-up.
BGR reveals that the three new models will be launched in late September, or in October. This time, Amazon will try to diversify its line-up offering a variety of choices and set different price levels. Each model of the new Kindle Fire line-up will be offered in three storage options: 8/16 or 32 GB for the entry level, and 16/32 or 64 GB for the 7-inch and 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD.
