Telefonica launches the new Firefox OS running phone LG Fireweb
The Firefox OS powered Alcatel One Touch Fire was introduced in the mobile world during the summer. Back then, the company revealed its plans to launch the phone in Q4 in some countries in Latin America, Europe and Asia. The major carrier Telefonica recently made a hint that soon another device running on Firefox OS might be joining the One Touch Fire. The news from yesterday confirmed that the rumors turned out to be true. Yesterday the mobile operator released in Brazil two handsets working over the new platform – Alcatel One Touch Fire and LG Fireweb. Both devices are entry level phones that are available at reasonable prices.
The One Touch Fire sports a 3.5-inches screen with 480x320p. It is powered by 1GHz CPU. The phone provides a 3.2MP camera on the back. It supports miroSD cards. In terms of connectivity One Touch Fire is 3G enables and supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
The new Firefox OS running device is dubbed LG Fireweb. LG is one of the companies in the mobile world that has shared its plans to integrate the platform in some of its models in future. The new device comes with 4-inches screen with a resolution of 320x480p. It boasts more improved camera than the current Firefox OS running models ZTE Open and Alcatel One Touch Fire. The shooter of Fireweb is with 5MP, located on the back. In the heart of the handset is ticking Qualcomm CPU clocked at 1GHz. The phone works with 2GB built-in memory. For owners of the phone that want more storage the device provides the option for microSD card. Fireweb is powered by 1540mAh battery. We already know that the most special about the phone is the Firefox OS platform. The exact version that is running on the phone is Firefox OS 1.1.
The new phones are arriving for first time on the Brazilian market. Hopefully the devices soon will make their way through the countries of Latin America. Telefonica has not announced the price for the new models yet.
