T-Mobile USA ambitious development plans
The company is currently focused on closing its merger with MetroPCS Communications (PCS.N) in the second quarter this year, but its plans for future development look very ambitious.
The company has just closed a deal with Apple, enabling them to start selling iPhones. Details on the deal have not been disclosed (of course!), but it’s made clear that the deal also involves a subsidy elimination plan. And eliminating handset subsidies will naturally give customers more flexibility and lower service prices. T-Mobile USA hopes to therefore attract customers from bigger competitors such as AT&T Inc (T.N) and Verizon Wireless (VZ.N)(VOD.L).
The company is also exploring the opportunities for establishing business relationships with the satellite provider Dish Network Corp (DISH.O), and additionally is seeking approval to merge with smaller wireless rival MetroPCS. Analysts have long said that MetroPCS and Leap networks would go well together.
Legere, executive at T-Mobile USA, has revealed that the company has not had talks with Dish, but when asked if he would consider a partnership with the satellite company he said: “The answer is obviously yes.”
“They’d be interesting for us to talk to and we’d be fascinating for them,” he added.
