SunPartner Group develops a solar-charging screen panel
The battery capacity is one of the problematic and ignored areas in the modern high-end smartphones. The constantly increasing of size and CPU performance leads that the phone operation demands more energy, hence larger batteries are needed. But further expanding is size would be something completely different to what we have seen past few years. Now, the only option is to create software and hardware which are optimized and consume less energy, but if you have a quad-core processor and a HD 1080p display, your device will still consume a lot of power. So, what is the possible decision?
Today, more than ever we read news about new promising battery saving technologies. Unfortunately, most of them remain on the table and don’t get out of the theory. Maybe the approach is wrong? That’s why a small French company has decided to develop something different. Instead of finding a way to expand the battery size, the company is focused on a new screen tech for extending the battery’s life. SunPartner Group has become developing a transparent panel, giving the device an extra boost of energy from the Sun. The company has already tested its product with different manufacturers and there are indications that the panel could be completely ready in the beginning of 2014.
The invention consists of a film with solar cells and a layer of tiny lenses. The prototype is 82% transparent and according to the calculations the inventions would be really cheap – the estimated price per unit will be $2.30. If the claims that the solar panel will increase the battery life by 20% are true, then this move would be a big step forward. At the same time the SunPartner Group’ tech panel is eco-friendly, and it will decrease the energy you use for charging your phone.
