Steve Walker walks out of Sony
It seems that 17 years of work with Sony are enough for Steve Walker, the company’s Chief Marketing Officer. He was one of the key people that were responsible for the highly successful development of the company in the last years, but now he is ready to continue his own way in the mobile world (or maybe not?). One of Steve Walker’s greatest results was the separating of Sony from Sony Ericsson and starting again (after more than 10 years) to produce its own mobile devices.
It is a bit ironic that Steve Walker will walk away from Sony just after the releasing of their greatest smartphone so far – Xperia Z. The smartphone is sure to provide enormous profit to Sony and it is also considered as the milestone for the company’s current process of changes that takes place. So, it seems that Steve Walker can’t choose a better moment to leave the company – his last project will be well-remembered.
Meanwhile, the company experiences internal reformations and the position of Walker will be taken by Jacob Sten, who is responsible for the new product marketing department of Sony. According to the CVP of the company, Dennis van Schie, the changes are crucial for the future development plans of the company.
Speaking of the future plans of Steve Walker, maybe no one except him knows how he will end up as he hadn’t said anything about what his further actions will be, but, having in mind Xperia Z and the success of the Marketing Officer so far, we are convinced that it would be something big.
