Sony Xperia Z1 f is now official
Sony has finally made the mini variant of its latest flagship device official. Named Xperia Z1 f, but often nicknamed Honami-mini, the new smartphone has all attractive features of its larger brother, nicely packed in a more compact size.
Sony introduced its flagship Z1 smarpthone in early September at the IFA show in Berlin. It didn’t take long for the rumors of its mini version to appear online, just weeks after the larger Honami was announced.
So, the Z1 f has almost the same innards as the Sony Xperia Z1. The processor is a quad-core Snapdragon 800, ticking over at 2.2 GHz with 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage is said to be 16 GB, with a microSD slot for expansion. The mini phone runs the same mobile OS, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Sony Xperia Z1 f also includes the same high res camera with the impressive 20.7 MP on the back. In front, there is a 2.2 MP shooter suitable for video calls. Basically, Z1 f is a very similar to the Z1 flagship device, but it has a smaller screen. Xperia Z1 f packs a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with the same BRAVIA LCD technology. This model is available in four different colors – white, lime, pink and black.
According to Sony, the new smartphone will be heading for the Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo and it will be included in their winter-spring 2013-14 offerings. The pre-orders have already begun and the Sony Xperia Z1 f is likely to arrive in Japan in December, just before the holidays. As yet, there is no information on global availability.
