Fans of Sony have all the reasons to be happy and excited today with the big announcements the company made at MWC 2014 in Barcelona. The Japanese manufacturer officially presented its flagship Sony Xperia Z2 and the high-end Sony Xperia Z2 tablet. They were accompanied by the mid-ranger Sony Xperia M2. It succeeds the lower-end Sony Xperia M with 4-inch display.
The budget smartphone is purposed for the emerging markets. It will be much appreciated by users who are looking for a modern and capable device with smaller than 5-inch display. Xperia M2 arrives with a 4.8-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 960 x 540p. The mid-ranger is an Android phone that runs on 4.3 Jelly Bean update. The power of the Xperia M2 comes from the quad-core processor with Snapdragon 400 chip, set at 1.2GHz. It works together with 1GB RAM and Adreno 305 GPU. Xpeira M2 boasts 8GB storage. The phone supports the usage of microSD cards for expansion of the memory.
The main camera provides in the model is an 8MP sensor on the back. It is designed with Exmor RS sensor and features LED flash. The capabilities of the camera are very good for the mid-range category smartphones. The connectivity features of the model include HSPA, 3G, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and the fast 4G LTE network. The battery of the handset is with relatively large capacity – 2330mAh.
Sony announced that the smartphone will be released with a dual-SIM variant. The Xperia M2 will be launched in three color options, just like the flagship Sony Xperia Z2 – black, purple and white. The company will release it internationally starting in April. The package of specs and possibilities of the new addition to the Xperia line put it in the same category as Motorola Moto G. However it is a bit doubtful that Sony will launch the mid-ranger at this low price. We will wait and see.
