Sony shares upgrade plans for a number of devices to get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 KitKat
With every new version of Android, users immediately want their phones up to date, so Sony officially revealed its plans today for a certain number of its devices to get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 KitKat in the near future, starting with the Jelly Bean update next month. The others will follow and probably more devices will be added to the big plans.’ Last week you probably saw Google announce Android version 4.4; Kit Kat…We’ve seen lots of questions on our Android upgrade roadmap and equally, we have lots to tell you, so here’s a note on just that…’ explains the official blog of Sony.
Starting with Android 4.4 Jelly Bean, Sony announced that it will start rolling next month onto some devices, and mentions Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1. Sony also confirms a few of our products would be jumping software version and reports that Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V will be upgraded to Android Jelly Bean 4.3… also from next month. Either way, this comes with the notice that not all markets and carriers will get the update at the same time.
Sony Mobile revealed its upgrade plans for Android 4.4 KitKat that will make it to the series of Xperia products as well. Sony isn’t revealing a release date, though it’s likely not going to be very soon, but it confirms that the update will come to the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 to Android 4.4.
The manufacturer mentions ‘We’re also happy to tell you about the first raft of Xperia products that we’ll make Android 4.4 Kit Kat available for’ that is probably a suggestion that the update will come to other devices as well, though at this rate we can’t claim anything.
